Dr. Rebecca Cunningham Employment Agreement Approved

Since the Board interviewed finalists last week, they have heard overwhelmingly positive feedback from the University community and people across the state. Chair Mayeron expressed that she is confident that “President-Designate Cunningham is the right leader to help write the University of Minnesota’s next chapter.” At its March meeting, the Board approved a five-year contract for Dr. Rebecca Cunningham to serve as the University’s 18th President. You can learn more about the Board’s action here

Dr. Rebecca Cunningham Selected as 18th University of Minnesota President

Following interviews with each finalist, the Board of Regents voted unanimously to select  Dr. Rebecca Cunningham as the University of Minnesota’s 18th President. Her anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024. Board leadership will now negotiate and finalize an employment agreement with Dr. Rebecca Cunningham, which will come before the Board for action in the near future.

Naming a president-designate brings the presidential search to a close. This search was thorough and sought broad community engagement and input at each phase. The input of faculty, staff, students, alumni, community leaders, and others – as well as the time and energy that so many devoted to this process over the past seven months – was essential to informing the search process and the Board’s selection of the president-designate.
